During the recent wildfires in the Strawn/Possum Kingdom area, BEST and a friend decided they would make a meal for the volunteers fighting the fires. Shortly after she purchased 29 boxes of brownie mix, the local volunteers were nudged off duty by the federal government.
So, what does one do with 29 boxes of brownie mix? I have lots of recipes in Chocolate Crimes, but in honor of BEST's generous attempts to aid the firefighters, I developed a new recipe. This one's for you, BEST...one down, 28 boxes to go!
Cherry Brownies
1 family size box of Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownies
2 eggs
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1 tablespoon mocha powder
1/4 cup Dr. Pepper ice cream syrup (Available at WalMart)
Combine and add:
1 cup diced dried cherries tossed with a tablespoon of flour
2 cups white chocolate chips, chopped
Bake in a greased 9x13 inch pan (My old one is actually 7 1/2 x 12.) for 26 minutes at 350 degrees. These will darken on the edges, so check them after about 24 minutes.
