Four Eggs in My Computer

Somewhere, there are four eggs floundering around in my computer. They escaped from my recipe for Cookie Caramel Brownies. Sleuth Sally Melzer and her daughter-in-law discovered a problem with the recipe and sent out a call for help. It irks me no end that there is an error in Five Steps to Chocolate Rehab, but it appears to be a fact of life with even the most famous cookbooks.
Here is the corrected version. Noticed the inclusion of the previously truant four eggs in the brownie portion of the recipe.

If you can’t decide whether you’d rather have a brownie or a chocolate chip cookie, this is your dessert. You get both!
Mix until crumbly:
1½ cups flour
⅓ cup brown sugar
¾ cup (1½ sticks) butter, diced
Add:
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup chocolate chips
Press into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan lined with foil. Be sure the foil extends over the sides of the pan. Bake at 350° for 9 minutes.
While the cookie layer is baking, combine:
1¼ cups flour
2⅓ cups granulated sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
Add:
8 tablespoons (one stick) butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla
Beat until smooth. Add and beat:
4 eggs
Add:
¾ cup chocolate chips
1¼ cup caramel bits
Stir and carefully spread over baked crust. Continue baking for 40 minutes. Cool completely and lift brownies from pan using the foil. Makes 36-48 brownies.
