When in doubt, turn to the original fashionista...Audrey Hepburn. She had the right idea when it came to shoes and capri pants. Ballet slippers, flats and sandals all look great with casual cropped pants, peddlepushers and capris. Even platform sandals, espadrilles and strappy sandals with heels look cute. The main idea is that casual pants call for a casual shoe. What doesn't look good are dressy high heel shoes with cropped denim, etc. Leave your silk and satin shoes with rhinestone clips for the cocktail hour and those lovely silk slim-legged pants. Also, in case your mother forgot to tell you, white shoes are not neutral. They only thing they actually co-ordinate with is more white.
