Stripping Weather Girl

I made an Amazonian mis-step over the holidays. Due to my back-to-back illnesses,I was hurriedly squeezing in some on-line shopping. I thought I was ordering an indoor/outdoor digital thermometer. Much to my chagrin, I realized Christmas day that I had actually ordered the stripping weather girl thermometer. Yes, the delightful vixen image actually sheds her clothes as an indication of air temperature. If it is below freezing, she remains fully clothed with jacket and scarf. She sheds the scarf at 40 degrees, loses her coat at 50 degrees and exposes her bare midriff. She must be made of sterner stuff than I, because I plan to be wearing full body coverage until the weather reaches 65 degrees.
At 60 degrees she sheds her high-heeled boots and dons her strappy heels. Her cropped pants give way to a mini-skirt and sleeveless top when the temperature approaches 70 degrees. Anything over 78 degrees will find her sporting a bikini and bare feet. I'm just grateful that was the last temperature icon. I guess she'll implode when the temperature crosses 100 degrees. Talk about hot flashes!
Of course, I have been the brunt of many family jokes. I thought of putting a strip of electrical tape over my voluptuous icon, but instead, I decided to purchase a new thermometer. When trying to install it yesterday, it fell off the window three times. Looks like I'm stuck with my stripping weather girl for a while.Let's just hope the weather remains chilly.

  1. Wow, that is pretty funny. Just be glad it wasn't a gift for your mother-in-law. Good thing winter is nearly here. That is one heck of athermometer.
