Bad Idea: Taxing Fat and Sugar

Even the Socialist country of Denmark has finally realized there is a limit to what government can provide and control.  After a year of laboring under the Fat Tax, aimed at any food containing more than 2.3% saturated fat, lawmakers have decided to scrap the tax and try some other means to improve the dietary habits of the country.  This decision came in conjunction with a reversal of a proposed tax on sugar.
I'm all for lending a helping hand, but when you start controlling every aspect of one's economic, medical and social life, what is the impetus to take responsibility for oneself? I am sorry that Denmark has seen a rise in obesity and a decline in life expectancy, but don't blame it on the Danish.

Since my blood boils with every new government regulation here in the US, you can imagine that proposing a tax on fat or sugar would push me over the edge.  What next?  Chocolate?! Put down your BIG GULP and write your congressman. It is not WHAT you eat, but HOW MUCH you eat. Maybe they should tax the fat after you ingest it...sort of a pay as you grow tax.
